A vision from Sridhar Ranganathan

“Very few educated and competent professionals are willing to serve in villages… and yet, village children deserve the same quality of education as any child in any big city.”

Reach Out India was born from a simple but powerful belief:
Every child, no matter where they live, deserves access to excellence.

What is Reach Out India?

A nationwide initiative by Shankar Mahadevan Academy to bring high-quality, live music education to rural India—through the power of the Internet.

  • Live, interactive classes — not pre-recorded content
  • Expert teachers trained by SMA
  • Delivered directly into village classrooms
  • Focused on every child, every session

This is not mass education.
This is personal, meaningful learning at scale.

Why This Matters

Children in villages rarely have access to:

  • Trained music educators
  • Exposure to diverse musical traditions
  • Platforms to express creativity

Reach Out India changes that.

In our 2026–25 pilot, we witnessed:

  • Children singing with confidence and meaning
  • Classrooms filled with energy, rhythm, and joy
  • Students discovering teamwork, discipline, and expression

The impact wasn’t theoretical.
It was visible, measurable, and deeply human.

Our Model

A simple, scalable, high-impact approach:

  • 20 students per batch
  • 34 live sessions per academic year
  • Guided by a trained SMA teacher
  • Supported by technology & coordination teams

Schools provide:

  • Classroom
  • Screen & Internet
  • Local coordinator

We provide:

  • Curriculum
  • Teacher
  • Training
  • Technology
  • Ongoing support

What Children Learn

Beyond just songs, children gain:

Music & Culture
Songs across Indian and global traditions celebrating values, nature, and heritage

Life Skills
Listening, teamwork, discipline, and collaboration

Personal Growth
Confidence, creativity, and self-expression

Real मंच (stage)
Annual performances to showcase their talent

The Scale of Our Dream

We are building a nationwide movement:

  • 2025 → 50 schools (at least one in every state)
  • 2026 → 130 schools
  • 2027 → 500 schools
  • 2028 → 2500 schools

From a few classrooms…
to a cultural movement across rural India.

Cost & Impact

₹70,000 per year
Supports 1 batch of 20 students with 34 live sessions

This includes:

  • Teacher fees
  • Technology infrastructure
  • Program management

That’s just ₹3,500 per child per year to transform a life.

Be a Part of This Movement

We are looking for partners who believe:

✔ Every child deserves equal opportunity
✔ Music can transform lives
✔ India’s villages deserve excellence—not compromise

You can support:

  • One batch (20 students)
  • One or more schools
  • A cluster of villages in any state

Bring Music Back Home

Support a school in:

Your native village
The place your parents or grandparents once called home

Give back—not just with resources,
but with opportunity, joy, and identity.

Let’s Build Centers of Excellence in Every Village

This is more than a program.
It’s a step toward a more equal, expressive, and culturally rich India.

Join us. Partner with us. Transform lives.

Because talent should never depend on geography

India lives in its villages.
But access to quality education—especially in the arts—does not.

In countless rural schools, children grow up without exposure to trained music teachers, structured learning, or opportunities to express themselves through music.

Yet their potential is limitless.
